Mockingjay Part 1

Mockingjay Part 1

Mockingjay Part I is an action-packed, emotional movie that moves the viewer from sorrow to fear and back. The main character, Katniss Everdeen, has just been taken out of the 75th Hunger Games and is told that because she shot an arrow at the ceiling of the arena, disorder and chaos have started in many of the districts. Katniss and others are then taken to a place thought not to exist, and their goal is to take down the Capitol.

The movie tells the incredible story of the first half of the third book. This movie is great for anyone who likes fast-paced movies that are suspenseful and thrilling. The actors and actresses portray their characters well. Jennifer Lawrence plays Katniss. She is good at showing both fear and courage. The one character who isn’t in the movie much is Peeta, played by Josh Hutcherson. However, in the few moments he is in the movie, he does a great job. I would have liked to see his character more often because in the previous movies, he has been an important part. Liam Hemsworth plays Gale. He sticks by Katniss throughout the entire movie. His character is strong, yet empathetic. He helps take care of Katniss’s family. The villain in this movie is President Snow, played by Donald Sutherland. He does the perfect job of being evil and cruel. Even the way he talks sounds sinister.

In this movie, there is one song that particularly stands out. It is called “Hanging Tree” and is sung by Lawrence. People don’t normally think of her as a singer, but this song explores her vocal range and proves that she has great musical talent. The lyrics to the song are dismal, but very catchy as well. This dystopian-themed movie is a great way to start the third and final book of the Hunger Games series, and I highly recommend it.
