West End in St. Louis Park has a variety of wonderful restaurants, but the one we visited was Crave, an American style restaurant and sushi bar.

The atmosphere at Crave was not very kid-friendly and was very dark. There was a huge sushi bar and drinks bar. Our surroundings were very loud because of the huge main room and the great number of people there. The decor is semi-formal and makes the restaurant a very comfortable place, which allows us to give their atmosphere a solid 8 on a scale of 10.

At Crave our waiter was friendly but shy, and she seemed as if she was nervous or had other places to be. She didn’t take us very seriously because it was ten minutes until we received the drinks we ordered. Another waiter dropped off our waters, and it wasn’t even considered a busy night. Our waiter. on the other hand, was very patient and gave us plenty of time to look over our menus and to ask questions. Customer service at Crave isn’t their main priority. Many times we believe their decent service is made up for by their excellent food, and they feel as if they can get away with it. We rate the service at Crave a reasonable 7.

We both ordered very simple things off the menu because Crave’s average cost per plate is about fifteen dollars. Emily ordered a kid’s grilled cheese with fries and Alexis ordered a mac & cheese with fries. Emily’s grilled cheese had dark grill marks, crispy buttery edges, and fresh, melted cheese. The fries were seasoned with a variety of spicy seasonings with plenty of salt, paprika, and pepper. Alexis’ mac and cheese was freshly homemade and was very creamy with an assortment of cheeses. It wasn’t a very well-seasoned dish, but it was excellent for a kid’s meal macaroni and cheese. Most of our food was well-seasoned, simple but good, and hot when delivered. We both really enjoyed our meal on the cold day we visited Crave. The food scored a clear 9 because it was the highlight of their restaurant.

Overall, our dinner at Crave was very enjoyable and satisfying. We both would like to go back because the food was savory. Both of us would recommend Crave to everyone, except for kids, because the food and atmosphere is not very kid friendly. Older teens and adults would enjoy this restaurant because the food is geared more to adults than kids. It was great to try the food and experience all the elements of Crave while we were there. In the future we both  would visit again because of their amazing food. We averaged all of our scores for a final rating of 8 for Crave at West End. If you like sushi and enjoy having a memorable time, Crave would be a fantastic choice.
