Extra terrestrial creatures known as Heptapods.

Futuristic movies where fate pits human versus alien have always been a boom or bust. If we’re measuring movies from boom to bust, Arrival is an atomic bomb. One of the most interesting plot lines this year, Arrival features a modern world that is visited by twelve UFO’s containing a pair of heptopods. Humans must learn a way to communicate with these creatures. This is extremely difficult because the humans must adapt to the Heptopod’s way of communication, which is unique to say the least. Not only must humans learn to communicate in seemingly impossible ways, but they have to find a way to get along and to unite for the common good of humanity.

If you’re already thinking of seeing Arrival, there is one thing you need to know. This is a thinking man’s movie. Don’t expect an alien invasion with insane guns and gut-wrenching gore. This is simply not that kind of movie. Arrival challenges the perception of time and truly makes you wonder how humans would receive a visit from foreign beings. It features a star in Amy Adams and showcases her in the lead role as an expert on many languages and how all languages are connected. She is put on the team to help develop a better understanding of any kind of communication they can have with these so called extraterrestrials. She pours her heart and soul into the role, making it all the more believable. Her performance is stellar in what seems to be one of the top movies of the year.

Arrival, brought to us by director Denis Villeneuve, is a must see for 2016 and is predicted to break many box office records. It is a very well thought out plot that many will want to debate and discuss with their friends after witnessing it. If you are a moviegoer who is looking for a suspenseful, keep-you-on-the-edge-of-your-seat kind of movie, Arrival is just the kind of masterpiece for you.
